Junior Gybe Club
If you're aged between 10 and 15, why not come and join our Saturday morning Gybe Club, where RYA trained coaches will help you learn and practice all things sailing.
Gybe Club is open to any ability, with each session designed with the sailing experience, sailing ability and weather conditions in mind.
During each session our RYA-trained coaches will help you have safe fun afloat, while practising sailing skills from the four stages of the RYA Youth Scheme.
Parents/guardians of all Gybe Club cadets are expected to stay and help with rigging the boats, getting them on the water, de-rigging and putting the boats away, as well as helping out with a variety of other tasks to help the youngsters get the most out of this time. Training will be provided.
As you can see from the Gybe Club Calendar, on-the-water Gybe Club sessions are held from 10 am to 1 pm, between May and July and during September. Gybe Club also offers monthly shore-based sailing-themed meetings throughout the winter months. Certificates and any special awards are presented to members of Gybe Club at their own Awards Evening in October.
If you're new to Gybe Club you'll need some basic kit. For summer sailing, we recommend a full wet suit with arms and legs, sailing type boots, gloves, a spray top and a warm hat. If you're changing at the club, don't forget a towel. We can provide buoyancy aids, but it's better if you have one of your own. During the winter we won't be going out on the water but you'll need a warm hat, coat and gloves.
If you're not sure whether Gybe Club is for you, feel free to visit us one Saturday to see what we do, or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
We have a limited number of club boats available for use during the Gybe Club sessions, including Toppers, Fevas and Zests. If you'd like to know more about our boats, or advice about where to buy a new or second-hand boat, please contact us at email@example.com.
The cost for the full 13-week Gybe Club sailing programme is just £70 per person. All Gybe Club members must either hold a young persons' club membership or have a parent or guardian who is a member of the Club. Please take a look at Memberships if you're not already a member.
A parent or guardian MUST be present at the Signal Station for young people aged 13 or under.
It is expected that a responsible adult will remain on hand for ALL Gybe Club members to provide support for their activities.
