Dinghy Cruises
Each year we run a variety of exciting days out on the Solent. These may include cruises to Wootton Creek, Hamble River, the Three Forts and Osborne View.
These events are not competitive. They are an opportunity to have fun, exploring the local area in a friendly flotilla of boats, sailing in close proximity.
Each cruise is supported by a safety boat and each dinghy is advised to carry a VHF radio, anchor and towing line.
If you don't have a boat and are happy to crew, or to simply enjoy a drink and a little food, then please come along and we will do our best to find you a place.
Below is a brief outline of the day, but please check the Sailing Calendar for details and timings and to see which are being run each year.
Wootten Creek, Isle of Wight
This is a lovely day out for anyone that likes a long cruise.
Sailing to Wootton Creek takes approximately two hours. We aim to arrive in time to enjoy a cooked dinner and a drink at the Royal Victoria Sailing Club, or a picnic, before sailing back to LOSSC.
It's a great day to meet friends, enjoy a leisurely cruise and enjoy yourself.
Hamble River Sailing Club
Another good day for anyone who enjoys a longer cruise.
We allow two hours to cruise along the Solent and then up the Hamble. We will find a local pub and enjoy a little food and a couple of drinks before we head home.
The Three Forts
This is slightly more adventurous and is for those who can sail and would like a little more of a challenge.
After leaving the slipway at LOSSC, we enjoy a sail east along the shoreline, past Stokes Bay and across Portsmouth Harbour to Spitbank Fort. We then turn south to round the second and then third and final fort before heading to a pub on the Isle of Wight to enjoy a meal and a drink before sailing home.
Please note this event is NOT suitable for Toppers or Fevas.
All cruises are supported by at least one safety boat. Each boat is required to carry a VHF radio, anchor and towing line.
