Winter Talk - Coast Watch Talk
Published 20:11 on 25 Jan 2026
On 19th February at 19:00, we'll be welcoming a member of Coast Watch to the clubhouse for an engaging talk covering the origins of the National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) since its formation in 1994, the establishment of Lee NCI, and how their Memorandum of Understanding with HM Coastguard defines their vital role within the wider Search and Rescue community.
The session will explore what Coast Watch volunteers do on a daily basis, the tools and techniques they rely on, their hierarchy of vulnerability, and the comprehensive training programme that supports their work. We'll also hear about their water safety education initiatives with schools, their ongoing community engagement, and the prestigious King's Award for Voluntary Service they received last year.
THIS IS A FREE EVENT BUT BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL. FAILURE TO BOOK COULD RESULT IN YOU BEING TURNED AWAY
