Social Racing and Race Development
The Thursday evening Sailing and Race Development Course and the Social Racing sessions provide an introduction to racing in a sociable, supportive environment.
These sessions are suitable for all levels - novice, intermediate and expert. Your standard of sailing is not important, as long as you are able to get around a course on all points of sail.
During the Thursday Spring Series, a coach will be on a dedicated RIB, training will be given and a separate course area will be laid with a number of short races each evening to practice your skills.
Following of from this during the Thursday Ealy Summer and Thursday Late summer series, a separate course will be laid to suit the ability and wishes of those who attend. Each session will begin with a briefing, which will look at the tide, wind, course and starting sequence.
Throughout the season experienced sailors from the club will be on hand to help with advice on boat preparation, sailing manoeuvres, racing rules, tactics and how to get a good start.
This is an ideal opportunity to venture into racing and compete against other sailors in a low key and relaxed environment. The aim is to have fun at the same time as developing racing skills.
The sessions are not simply about racing, but about improving boat handling skills, getting to know your boat and feeling more confident on the water.
A Social Sailing session will run at the same time, so you can choose whether you want to race or simply enjoy the chance to take your boat out. No booking is required for social sailing.
Please see the Race Training Calendar for more details of each session and come and join us on the water. Club boats can be booked online.
Once you are more confident with your new found knowledge we hope to see you join club racing on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons, either in the class fleets or the new novice starts.
