Race Training

Racing is not just about winning. It's about being able to sail well and being aware of all that is necessary to get the boat around the course.

This year we will be running two courses in race training, both aimed at people who can already sail. You are welcome to join in with just one or to do both. There will be some repetition but all practice is good. Your standard of sailing is not important (as long as you can get along on all points of sailing) but we do expect more from a better sailor than from a less experienced sailor.

On Saturday mornings we will be running the RYA Start/Intermediate Race Training course, while the Thursday evening training will be less formal, but still full of tips and advice.

Registration for the RYA course is via our online booking system.

At the end of these courses you should feel more comfortable in your boat and know more about what to expect on the race course.

Every day is different, with varying winds, sea conditions tides etc, so each session is self-contained and set up to suit the day, although we try to make each session build on the previous. Whatever happens, you should have fun.

You can do as few or as many as you like on the Thursday evenings, but the more you can do the more you will get out of them.

We will structure the sessions with:
* A chat/briefing to begin with to talk about what we hope to get out of the session
* Some short course racing because it's fun and instructive
* A chat at the end to see what was important.

For further information, take a look at the Race Training Calendar to see dates, times and prices.
