Cadet Training - Session 2
Cadet training offers a series of on-the-water sessions which are open to youngsters of any ability between the ages of 10 and 15. During each session our RYA-trained coaches will help each child to have safe fun afloat, taking into account their sailing ability and the weather conditions, while practicing sailing skills from the four stages of the RYA Youth Scheme.
Please note, parents/guardians of all Cadets are expected to stay and help with rigging the boats, getting them on the water, de-rigging and putting the boats away, as well as helping out with a variety of other tasks to help the youngsters get the most out of this time. Training will be provided.
On-the-water Cadet sessions are held on Saturday mornings, between May and July. Certificates and any special awards are presented to members of Cadet Training at the Trainee Awards Evening in October.
We recommend a full wet suit with arms and legs, sailing type boots, gloves, a spray top and a warm hat - and don't forget a towel!
We can provide buoyancy aids, but it's better if you have one of your own.
